Fishing Gear Tested in the Field and Reviewed Honestly

Montana Fly Company Poly Fly Boxes

The Montana Fly Company Fly Boxes immediately grabbed my attention with their vibrant and beautiful artwork and their small size (5.5 inches long by 3.5 inches wide), making them a perfect fit for my chest pack.

I appreciate the way these boxes are set up for holding flies; they are made from a tough, hard plastic and are also waterproof (I may have accidentally discovered that they float really well when I almost lost one box on the river).

I am also a fan of how the artwork helps me to distinguish which box holds which type of flies. For example, I designated one box for my dry flies and nymphs and a different box for terrestrials and leeches.

My wife and daughter liked mine so much that they each wanted to pick out their own artistic fly box. These boxes are beautiful, will last a lifetime, and are perfect for all of your fly storage needs.

I highly recommend checking them out and seeing all the different designs. They currently cost between $25 to $30.

Fish Pond Upstream Tech Women’s Vest

It had been roughly 17 years since I bought my wife her first fly vest and adorned it with all the gizmos befitting a true fly fisherman. It was an Orvis men’s khaki fishing vest that didn't ever fit quite right. Fast forward several years and now you can buy fishing vests specifically for women. Fish Pond Gear has always been reliable and durable equipment so when I discovered the Fish Pond Upstream Tech Women’s Vest I knew that was the only way to upgrade my wife’s fly vest.

My wife and I found this vest along with a new net at a local fly shop near Bend, Oregon, while on a fly fishing trip. She instantly loved it and tried it on.  The vest is specifically designed to fit a woman. It has large pockets, with plenty of room for all your tools, and will hold plenty of good sized fly boxes. The connect point for the net on the back is an added plus. She highly recommends this vest and while it is a little spendy at around $199… it's worth it if it lasts another 17 years.
